The Story

My husband and I met at Northwestern University and we have lived in Trout Valley, Illinois since we were married.  We've raised six children, all college graduates and my work in college guidance began more than 20 years ago as a result of assisting our six children through the college admissions process.  I served on the District #155 Board of Education (Crystal Lake & Cary) serving nearly 6,500 students for 12 years.  Improving the college guidance for students was a high priority for me, and each of the four high schools now has a College & Career Center.

I earned the Certificate in College Counseling with Distinction from UCLA in 2012.  After my practicum at Trinity Oaks Christian Academy, I worked at a private college counseling office for three years. In 2017, I opened up my private practice in Fox River Grove where I provide personalized and comprehensive college admissions guidance to college-bound students and college transfer students in the Northwest Suburbs.

The Goal

My goal is to provide professional college planning and admissions guidance to high school and college transfer students.  Through a clear Guided Path of gathering information on the student’s academic background, learning style, aptitude and interest inventory, combined with standardized testing data, we will explore colleges using a very robust and interactive database of accredited institutions to develop a balanced college list.

After finalizing a list of colleges prior to senior year, we will then focus on applications, including essays, personal statements, resumes and letters of recommendation to ensure on-time submission.  FAFSA, CSS Profiles and other financial aid forms will be tracked for application deadlines.

Lastly, to determine the student’s final school decision, we will review and compare all acceptances and offers of merit aid, grants or scholarships.
